Brief description:

MTN Solution Space Scholarships for Africans: The Solution Space Scholarships were established in order to foster a new generation of leaders who are willing to think beyond “business as usual” in order to conceive of, build, and experiment with new models that will determine our future.

The scholarships were established to provide financial assistance to daring and visionary African mid-career professionals and entrepreneurs who are dedicated to local innovation and for whom obtaining a postgraduate qualification is an essential step on their journey toward shaping the future of our continent. The recipients of the scholarships must be committed to local innovation.

Field of study:

MBA or the Master of Philosophy in Inclusive Innovation program offered by the UCT Graduate School of Business. During the school year 2016-2017, the scholarships will be made available to those who have a strong interest in the following areas: education, health and wellbeing, smart cities, and open imagination.

Scholarship value/inclusions:

An MTN Scholarship may be granted for a period of up to two years, and its recipient is exempt from paying any tuition or registration fees throughout their time at the UCT Graduate School of Business (UCT GSB).

Eligibility:

To be considered for a MTN Scholarship you must:

  • You need to both be a citizen of South Africa or another African nation and have at least a year of experience as a permanent resident before you can apply.You can submit an application to the UCT GSB to pursue either the MBA or the MPhil in Inclusive Innovation programme. If applicants are successful in getting into the UCT GSB program, then and only then will they be eligible to receive the MTN Scholarship.

Application instructions:

It is not feasible to submit an application for an MTN Scholarship if you have not first submitted an application to the business school. To be considered for admission, applicants must first meet the requirements of the academic program offered by the UCT GSB (via the Admissions Office). After that, applicants are expected to submit the MTN Scholarship Application online form together with their UCT application number, which they should have obtained from the UCT GSB Admissions Office, as well as any necessary supporting papers. The submission of scholarship applications must be completed by November 15th.
