Brief description: 

International Scholarship Program at University of Toronto: At the University of Toronto, there is a program called the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship Program. This program is designed to recognize international students who are recognized as leaders within their respective schools and who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and creativity. The influence that the student has had on the day-to-day operations of their school and community, as well as their future potential to make a good contribution to the lives of people all over the world, is given a lot of weight in the evaluation process.

Students from other countries around the world, as well as students from other countries studying in high schools in Canada are considered

Scholarship value/inclusions/duration:

The scholarship will cover tuition, books, incidental fees, and full residence support for four years.


To be eligible to apply to the Pearson International Scholarship, you must be:

  • An international student, that is, a student from a country other than Canada who needs a study permit; • in your final year of high school, or have graduated from secondary school no earlier than June this year;
  •  You will begin your academic career in September next year at the University of Toronto (students already attending post-secondary studies cannot be considered; students starting their studies in January next year at another post-secondary institution cannot be considered)

Application instructions:

To become a Pearson Scholar, you must be nominated by your school and apply to undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto. To apply, you’ll need to:

  •  Your school needs to put in a nomination for you. (We are asking high schools that have not already been contacted or vetted to fill out an application for nomination privileges, which may be found here.)
  • Submit an application to study at the University of Toronto so that you can start your studies in 2023, and make sure that your admissions application is complete before the relevant deadlines.
  • Once you have applied to the university and the university has received a nomination for you, then you will be able to complete the online application for the Lester B. Pearson Scholarship.

The school nomination deadline is 30 November this year. The student admissions deadline is 14 December this year (you are recommended to apply before 7 November this year). The scholarship application deadline is 16 January next year.
